iZombie Star Reveals He Was Victim of Sexual Abuse as a Child

Rahul Kohli — best known for playing Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti on The CW’s iZombie — has revealed he was a victim of sexual abuse as a child, with the hope that coming forward with his story might provide a sense of solidarity and help others with similar experiences cope with their own pain.

"The longer I keep my secret, the longer I feel like I’m protecting someone who doesn’t deserve it and letting down others who are too afraid to step forward and confront their own past," the actor wrote on Twitter. "I was a victim of sexual abuse as a child. We are not alone and we are not to blame."

In response to this, the 33-year-old actor expressed his gratitude on his Instagram story (which has since expired), saying, "I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the messages of support today. I haven’t really processed everything right now. It’s been kind of a secret for 25 years…"

"I was hoping that by coming forward and being more open and honest about what I went through in some way that might help someone who is still in the dark, still in isolation… can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel," he continued. "You can get out on the other side."

Kohli has starred on iZombie since the series debuted back in 2015. He is also known for his occasional guest appearances on the YouTube channel Funhaus and his one-off appearance on Supergirl . Additionally, he is slated to voice the character of Dr. Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow in DC Universe’s upcoming Harley Quinn animated series.

Based on the Vertigo comic book series by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred of the same name, iZombie was developed for television by Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero-Wright. The series stars Rose McIver, Malcolm Goodwin and Rahul Kohli. It will return on The CW for its fifth and final season on Thursday, May 2.
